About Stefanie Lekkas
Stefanie commenced her work at the National Health Co-op as an Accredited Practicing Dietitian (APD) in 2014, having obtained both her Food Science and Nutrition degree and Master of Dietetics from Deakin University in Melbourne, Australia.
As an APD Stefanie tailors nutrition advice to the individual. Despite have the word “diet” in her professional title, Stefanie takes a mindful eating, or non-diet approach, to her practice, focussing on a person’s overall health and wellbeing rather than encouraging a restrictive, diet-focussed mentality.
Along with assisting patients with diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol and osteoporosis, Stefanie also works with patients to improve their gut symptoms and optimise their dietary intake in conditions such as irritable bowel syndrome and diverticular disease. Stefanie also assists parents with introducing first foods, fussy eating and appropriate growth of their little ones.
With an interest in allergies and intolerances she completed the Professional Certificate in Medical Nutrition Therapy in Food Allergy and Intolerance in 2018 and is a professional member of Coeliac Australia.
