Mental Healthcare

The National Health Co-op cares about our members’ total wellbeing, which is why we provide access to bulk billing psychology and counselling services.

To access these services at bulk billing rates you will need to have a GP Mental Health Care Plan completed by your GP, along with an appropriate referral letter to an NHC Psychologist. Please note, following a clinical decision by your GP that your condition meets the Medicare criteria for a GP Mental Health Care Plan, you will then need to book a long appointment with your GP to complete the GP Mental Health Care Plan.

Private consultations are available from $100 per session for members. Private health rebates may be available, please check with your insurer.

Please note that a $100 deposit is required for new patients to access our psychology services.

What is a Psychologist?

Psychologists have specialised training in the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of mental health problems and the assessment and treatment of a wide range of psychological problems.

They are trained in the delivery of a wide range of psychological therapies and approaches with demonstrated effectiveness in treating mental health difficulties. Psychologists do not typically prescribe medication. They are specialists in applying psychological theory and scientific research to resolve clinical mental health problems.

Psychology services are currently available at our Charnwood, Coombs and Chisholm clinics in the ACT, as well as our Yass Clinic in NSW.
